Service from A - Z

Service from A - Z

Well supplied all around

We offer our residents and relatives a wide range of services, support and assistance in everyday life. We have listed the most important points and answers as well as information on the subject of care alphabetically below:

We cooperate with the pharmacy at the town hall in Wesseling in the supply of medicines. This ensures a quick supply of medication. The employees of the pharmacy are also the contact persons for all technical questions.

However, there is also the possibility that a pharmacy of choice is named.

We work together with established physicians and specialists. Of course, the free choice of doctor remains unaffected.

We conduct our admission interviews personally in our house. The personal impression and a good "gut feeling" are indispensable for a trusting joint support of the residents in the GFO Center St. Elisabeth.

Please arrange an appointment via our administration with the facility management or the nursing service management: Tel.: (02227) 92060.

If you have decided in favor of our house St. Elisabeth, you will be invited to a preliminary care interview before moving in. It is important for us to collect all the necessary information in advance in order to get to know the new residents. This makes it easier for them to settle into our home.

Of course, we will also advise you on all questions concerning the financing of your place in the home.

The completed admission form is sufficient for pre-registration.

Visitors are always welcome in our GFO Center Living & Care St. Elisabeth. There are therefore no fixed visiting hours.

The administration is available from Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 16:30.

Our in-house Café Heinrichs in the foyer is the central meeting place in our GFO Center Living & Care St. Elisabeth. It offers daily coffee and cake specialties as well as two lunch menus. The café is a meeting place not only for Wohnen & Pflege St. Elisabeth, but for the entire GFO Klostergarten with its numerous facilities. The café is open daily for residents, their relatives and friends.

Please refer to the notices and announcements for more details.

Before moving into an inpatient care facility, there are many things for relatives and future residents to consider and arrange. We have therefore compiled a CHECKLIST to provide you with assistance and orientation. If you would like further information or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our EMPLOYEES personally.

Quality in nursing is also based on compliance with so-called expert standards. These quality instruments are developed by recognized experts and reflect the current state of knowledge in the profession. It goes without saying that our hospital also works in accordance with these expert standards. You can find out more about the individual expert standards by clicking on the individual sub-items:

If you are interested in further information, please contact the nursing service management, who will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

We celebrate the festivals as they fall! Festivals and celebrations are an important part of every day's life. Our social services team regularly organizes parties, celebrations, outings and entertaining events. In doing so, our employees always take into account the wishes and needs of our residents. We base our activities on the seasons in order to bring them to life. Many festivities are celebrated together across the generations on the site, for example: St. Martin's Day with St. Martin's procession and bonfire, the open singing "Merten sings together into Advent", the large summer festival as a village festival with 2,500 guests or the joint Christmas market: festivities that show that the people at the Seniorenzentrum St. Elisabeth are integrated and part of a large community.

Here you will find our current SCHEDULE CALENDAR.

If our residents would like to organize personal celebrations in our house for birthdays, anniversaries or commemorations, we are happy to help with the organization. In addition to suitable rooms, we also offer catering and table arrangements according to your wishes. Our housekeeping management is available for scheduling and price inquiries.

We have our own small hairdressing salon in our house. It is open on Thursdays from 09:00. In addition, individual appointments can be made. Our hairdresser, D+G-the nursing home hairdresser, is also happy to come to the residents' rooms if they are unable to visit the salon. We support our residents in making appointments.

Well-groomed and healthy feet contribute to well-being. Therefore, we cooperate with both a foot care and a podiatry practice. We help with making appointments. The services can be used comfortably in your own room without our residents having to leave the house.

You would like to register yourself, a relative or a person close to you for admission to our GFO Center Living & Care St. Elisabeth. Then please use our corresponding FORM. We will then contact you as soon as possible.

You have chosen our GFO Center and inpatient care. We are pleased about that. You are in good hands with us. For admission to our GFO Wohnen & Pflege St. Franziskus, we conclude a so-called HOME CONTRACT with the resident, in which all details are regulated.

In the accompaniment of the seriously ill and dying as well as in grief counseling, we receive support from the voluntary Ambulant Hospice Service Bornheim e.V. as well as from the SAPV-Rhein-Erft.

Our GFO Center Living & Care St. Elisabeth attaches great importance to climate protection. Within the scope of our possibilities, we constantly examine the use of sustainable products and technology.

Energy-saving lighting, the purchase of e-rickshaws, our own bee colonies and insect-friendly planting are just a few examples of our work.

Our vehicle fleet consists (with a growing share) of numerous hybrid or electric vehicles.

The energy supply of the GFO Zentrum Wohnen & Pflege St. Elisabeth is proportionally ensured by a combined heat and power plant. The combined heat and power offers a significantly better utilization of energy than can be achieved with conventional heating systems.

Our food purchases in the areas of bakery products, meat products, fruit and vegetables are made from regional suppliers in order to avoid long transport routes. We are constantly testing and promoting the use of organic foods.

In the case of acute illnesses, our residents benefit from the close contacts in the GFO network, which includes numerous hospitals. The proximity to the GFO hospital ensures short distances and a quick admission in case of need. Of course, there is a free choice of hospital.

We offer our residents a tasty menu that changes daily. Snacks and late meals are available at any time. Health requirements are taken into account as well as any special diet.

Fresh food is produced and delivered by our partner Gourmetplan. Chilled and non-chilled beverages such as water and juices are available at all times, as well as coffee and tea. Beer and wine are available upon request. Our residents can use our "Heinrichs Café" on the first floor free of charge. Our housekeeping management is responsible for ensuring the good quality of the meals.

Relatives are also welcome to eat with our residents for a small fee. Many of our residents prefer fixed seating in the day room. For this reason, eating together at the usual table is not always possible for reasons of space. In this case, we naturally set the table for our residents and their relatives at another table, in the residents' room or in the café.

A person is considered to be in need of care if he or she is no longer able to care for him or herself independently due to age, illness or disability. In Germany, this is when very different rules apply. As a rule, people in need of care and their relatives are then also entitled to graduated financial support. To this end, the legislator has installed a system of care guarantees.

Since the reform of the classification and assessment of care needs in 2017, five care grades now apply (they have replaced the previous three care grades). Care grade 1 denotes the lowest level with the least need for support, while care grade 5 denotes the maximum level of assistance required for people in need of care. The five care levels are used as a basis for the financial benefits provided by payers, in particular the long-term care insurance fund.

Classification into care grades is based on six criteria, known as modules:

Module 1 "Mobility": the assessor looks at physical mobility. For example, can the person get up on his or her own and walk from the bed to the bathroom? Can he or she move around independently within his or her own four walls, is climbing stairs possible?

Module 2 "Mental and communicative abilities: This area covers understanding and talking. For example: Can the person concerned orient himself in time and space? Does he or she understand facts, recognize risks and can he or she hold conversations with other people?

Module 3 "Behavioral and psychological problems": This includes restlessness at night or fears and aggression, which are stressful for the person in need of care, but also for their relatives. This is also taken into account if there are defensive reactions to nursing measures.

Module 4 "Self-care": For example, can the applicant wash and dress him/herself, can he/she go to the toilet independently and eat and drink?

Module 5 "Dealing independently with requirements and stresses caused by illness or therapy - and coping with them": The assessor looks at whether the person concerned can, for example, take medication him/herself, measure blood sugar independently, use aids such as prostheses or a walker, and see a doctor.

Module 6 "Shaping everyday life and social contacts": For example, can the person concerned organize his or her daily routine independently? Can he or she come into direct contact with other people or go to the skat club without help?

The price for a place in a nursing home is made up of several components. This is stipulated by law. These include the care itself, costs of room and board, and investment costs. The monthly costs are made up of these components and vary depending on the region and the home.

If residents are unable to cover the costs from their own resources, they can apply for "assistance with care" (according to § 61 SGB XII). In principle, every person in need of care is entitled to this assistance.

We have compiled the monthly prices for STATIONARY CARE and SHORT-TERM CARE for you.

The house is named after Saint Elisabeth of Thuringia, who turned to people in love. "Faith, hope and love" as basic attitudes of St. Elisabeth should be reflected in our daily life, not only in our actions, but also in the fulfillment of our spiritual needs and attachments. Depending on their faith and intensity of faith, the residents themselves decide whether their room should be marked by Christian symbols, whether they would like to accept the offer to join in the celebration of Holy Mass in the in-house chapel, or whether they would like to receive the Communion of the Sick in their room. In addition, pastoral counselors are available to residents and staff to provide advice and support as needed. For residents who are perhaps not so strongly rooted in their faith, but who nevertheless wish to meditate and find peace, there are additional offers. For example, meditation, autogenic training, discussion groups and musical respite can be arranged through social service staff or external speakers.

Our residents should be able to actively shape their lives. Sports activities, cooking groups, singing circles and memory training enrich everyday life. But we also offer project work in areas such as art, radio, theater, writing workshops or photo exhibitions. Because people in need of care find their own way of shaping and expressing themselves. Many of these offerings can be implemented across generations. These experiences in turn change the quality of contacts and - following the original idea - give the "years more life".

The current weekly schedule and the program of the current project weeks can be found here.

The GFO Center St. Elisabeth wants to be an open place for people from the surrounding area. For many residents, the living space is their exclusive living space. To enable additional contacts, we bring "the world into the house" and open our offers to all interested people. Meeting people from the surrounding area can be a benefit for everyone involved. The opening of the house is supported by the involvement of volunteers and numerous cooperation partners.

The following recurring group events are offered in our house:

  • Excursions
  • Festivals and celebrations
  • Music/common singing
  • Exercise activities
  • Household activities
  • Memory training
  • Creative design
  • Turning to God

In addition, there are various projects or excursions.

The purpose of the Housing and Participation Act in NRW (WTG) is to protect the dignity, rights, interests and needs of people who use housing and care services for older people or people in need of care and people with disabilities from impairment, to positively shape the framework conditions for care and nursing staff and to ensure compliance with the obligations incumbent on service providers. It is intended to guarantee elderly people or people in need of care and people with disabilities a self-determined life, to support their participation and co-determination, to promote transparency about the design and quality of care services, and to contribute to better cooperation between all responsible authorities. This is the opening text of the WTG of NRW.

Our facilities are also subject to the WTG. In the regular inspections, we have to demonstrate that we comply with all regulations.
